We currently stock cabergoline in the original amber stock bottle in our ADC on the L&D floor to use when it is ordered for lactation inhibition. It is an 8 count bottle of the 0.5 mg tablet size. The dose for lactation inhibition is 1 mg, so 2 tablets. We had an event recently where the nurse removed the two full bottles stocked in the pocket as they read the order as 2 bottles instead of 2 tablets.

Since we stock the product in the original bottle in order to scan the product prior to administration the stock bottle would need to be removed from the ADC, taken to the bedside then returned to the ADC with the remaining supply. Otherwise the nurse removes the tablets needed for the dose and does not take the stock bottle to the bedside to scan for administration.

I'd like to learn if any other sites store cabergoline differently in their ADC. If so, how do you store it? If not, do you have a different process in place to aid in bar code med administration?
