Greetings,
Our institution has recently had several near-miss events related to pediatric EPINEPHrine products in Pyxis.
Current we stock:
•EPINEPHrine 0.1mg/1mL (10 mL) syringe
•EPINEPHrine 10 mcg/1mL (10 mL) syringe
•EPINEPHrine 1:1000 1mg/1mL (1 mL)
I am interested in how other institutions may be distinguishing these for their staff, particularly when they need to select the product they want prior to laying eyes on it. Due to the challenge, our staff have started to refer to these products with nicknames to communicate (e.g. "code" epi, "anaphylaxis" epi, "spritzer" epi).
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Best, Jeff
