For hospitals with a beta blocker/calcium channel blocker toxicity order:
What concentration is your insulin drip?
What size is your bag?
What is your rationale for the size bag?
Based on literature we can find, we have 16units/mL concentration and make a 50mL bag. We are finding that this size bag lasts approximately an hour in many patients and have requests to increase the volume. For safety reasons, we do not want to use 100mL (the size of our regular 1unit/mL bag) and have discussed 250mL. That, too, causes concern so interested in what others are doing. Thank you for your time.
