Hello MSOS members,
I am hoping to get some insight from institutions who handle propofol as a controlled substance (whether it is out of precaution or because required by State law)
We received concerns from our anesthesia colleagues that because propofol is fully locked as a controlled substance it is harder to access from the AWS in the event of an emergency (e.g. laryngospasm).
Our initial thoughts for a solution is to have kits that could either be signed out from pharmacy or stored in the AWS and replenished as needed overnight.
Have any other institutions run into this issue and implemented a similar solution?
