This message is being sent to only to medication safety officers in MSOS. ISMP (Institute for Safe Medication Practices) is creating a white paper on the Value of a Medication Safety Officer (MSO). The purpose of the white paper is to persuade hospital administrators, regulators, and other key decision makers on the importance of having a medication safety officer position in healthcare organizations. This will obviously be of great value to you and others seeking to implement a MSO position.
As a medication safety officer member of MSOS, we are asking you to help us prepare the paper with background information. Please take the time to assist us with:
- Completing a short survey of your role and responsibilities as a medication safety officer at https://surveys.ismp.org/s3/Duties-and-Responsibilities-of-a-Medication-Safety-Officer.
- Sharing stories of how you, as a medication safety officer, had a defined impact on preventing a serious medication error and any financial justification you have related to your role as a medication safety officer. Stories, anecdotes and data can be emailed to msovalue@medsafetyofficer.org. They will be treated confidentially.
The information we receive will help us present the value of a medication safety officer in the white paper. We would like all responses by April 15th, but certainly no later than April 30, 2016.
Thank you for your help in this.
