Hi all,
We are considering alternative ways to address how we monitor our medication fridges/freezers. Currently, we use a min/max thermometer plus a log that is filled out twice daily. We also have a wireless monitoring system that is used as a secondary back-up.
We continue to struggle with the completeness of our monthly logs. The CDC released an updated Vaccine Storage & Handling Toolkit last month, and they recommend a continuous digital data logger (DDL) for temperature monitoring. They don't mention much in the way of min/max thermometers. They also suggest recording unit temperatures twice a day (the method is not specified), but also recording the min/max daily (here, they state through the use of a DDL).
I'm curious as to what others are doing. I am considering using our DDL as the primary method, and having this centrally monitored by a few individuals (recording the temperatures in a "central" log), rather than continuing to struggle with our current system. Has anyone had success with alternative/non-conventional ways of doing this?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Mike
