Chlorhexidine (Peridex)

The mfr that provides Peridex is no longer making the unit dose (UD)cup. We do not know of another mfr that makes UD chlorhexidine. We use upwards of 1100 UD cups per month; we had originally planned on unit dosing it ourselves but cannot possibly keep up with this volume without letting something else go (i.e., not having a triage tech during critical times operationally).

What are other hospitals doing with this product, especially if you were getting the UD package from the mfr? It was suggested we have nurses pour 15 mL from the bottle into a cup for pt for ambulatory surgery and pre-op areas, and unit dose ourselves only for inpatient use. I just have concerns about this as we pretty much have only UD in hospital and this is not something nurses are used to.
