Carboplatin Adverse Reactions Reported for Teva product?

Forums:

Hello,

Two questions related to reactions to carboplatin.

1. Are there any facilities or sites noticing an increase in reports of adverse drug reactions between brands of carboplatin? With the current carboplatin shortage, there is a perception with some of our infusion centers that the Teva product may be resulting in an increase in ADRs for patients.

Hello,

Our institution has been observing a recent increase in hypersensitivity reactions associated with fosaprepitant. The hypersensitivity reactions have been occurring within a minutes of infusion initiation, and has occurred with patients who have previously tolerated the infusion.

Has anyone observed any similar trends at their institutions?

Thank you,

IV Contrast Agents and Adverse Events in Neurointerventional Procedures

Hello,

I’m interested in seeing if any of my colleagues at other facilities have been experiencing an increase in adverse events associated with the use of IV contrast in neurointerventional endovascular procedures.

To summarize briefly, we have recently observed an increase in events where these patients have experienced symptoms of stroke, seizure and encephalopathy post neurointerventional procedures with subsequent recovery. One common feature among these patients is the unexpected presence of IV contrast in the brain post procedure.

Adverse Reactions to Inactive Ingredients

I am observing an increase in events related to adverse reactions to inactive ingredients, (grape flavoring, red dye, aloe). Does your institution have a procedure for alerting when a patient has an allergy to an inactive ingredient and a process for screening medications that contain that ingredient?
