Mini-bag plus in Pyxis

Joshua Hull's picture

Forums:

Our facility is considering placing un-activated mini-bags in Pyxis. We would attach the antibiotic vials to the bags in our IV room. From what we have found, we could use a 30 day BUD on the 100 mL un-activated bags in Pyxis. Nursing staff would activate the bag immediately before administering. For those that use a similar setup - did you have issues with bags being hung without them being activated? (essentially a missed dose of antibiotic?) The concern for doses not being activated has been our one road block so far.

Centralized Infusion Preparation

Hello everybody

We are planning to centralize the infusion preparation in our hospital pharmacy.
Do you have experiences with it?
What can be easily prepare centralized?
What needs to be done at the ward (e.g. due to stability)?

I am looking forward hearing from you!
Regards
Kristina

MM.05.01.07 EP2 Nurse prepared IV medications

Forums:

Hi All,

We are having a lively discussion about this in my department and am really looking for your help.

How do you address this EP?  Where does medication preparation occur when it is outside of the pharmacy?

Do you have one space designated with/without tape for medication preparation?

Is this space used for other things or is it only for medication preparation?

Do you have a tray?

Do you have computers on wheels in the patient rooms with a workspace?  Do you use this workspace?
