ISMP's draft guidelines for safe use of subcutaneous insulin are open for public comment. ISMP is partnering to offer a three-day course that will teach healthcare organizations how to apply the Just Culture model, which can reduce adverse medication events. Participants will develop in-house expertise in the 5 Skills and Just Culture Algorithm, and take part in real world simulations that involve specific case examples.The course offers 20 hours of CE for pharmacists and nurses, and will be held May 10-12, 2016 in Bellevue, Washington. This message is being sent to only to medication safety officers in MSOS.  ISMP (Institute for Safe Medication Practices) is creating a white paper on the Value of a Medication Safety Officer (MSO).  The purpose of the white paper is to persuade hospital administrators, regulators, and other key decision makers on the importance of having a medication safety officer position in healthcare organizations. This will obviously be of great value to you and others seeking to implement a MSO position.

MSOS and ISMP are again collaborating sponsors of the ASHP Medication Safety Collaborative (MSC) at the ASHP 2016 Summer Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland on June 11-15th.  In addition to the ASHP-MSC events, MSOS will again be hosting a members' networking meeting on Sunday from 12:30-1:30 pm (Room 337), and an informal gathering with drinks/small bites on Monday 5:30-7:00 pm in the bar/lounge at the Kona Grill (1 E.
