Ideal/Adjusted Body Weight Display

Hi, we are reaching out to gather insights from others on how your organization documents and communicates alternative dosing weights, such as ideal body weight (IBW), adjusted body weight (ABW), and any other variations used for medication dosing.

Specifically:

1. Where are alternative dosing weights (ideal body weight, adjusted body weight, etc.) documented in your EMR? Is it in the banner bar, storyboard, in measurements, or elsewhere?
2. If your organization uses dosing weight, is this ever changed to an alternative weight (IBW, AdjBW)?
3. How are providers notified when medications should be dosed according to an alternative body weight?
4. Bonus - Any suggestions or solutions you have implemented so this information is communicated clearly and efficiently to clinical team would be incredibly appreciated!

Best,
