We are reviewing our medication preparation and anesthesia workflows in our L&D ORs and am curious how things are done at your institution:
Do providers draw up medications from vials into a syringe ahead of time (oxytocin, rocuronium, ondansetron) in anticipation of a case?
If so, how are they labeled, and what BUD is assigned (one hour vs 4 hours?)?
Additionally, how are they stored until use?
Do providers spike and hang IV fluid infusions (D5W, LR) in anticipation of use?
If so, what labeling is required (hang time, expiration time, BUD, etc)?
