Repeater Pump Calibration and Volume Variation

Forums:

Hello,

I'm curious if any institutes which utilize repeater pumps for compounding have any experience or thoughts on the following:

- For repeater pumps with selectable flow rates, what is your institution's preferred setting (e.g., low, medium, high).?
- Have you noticed any variations in volumes when utilizing higher flow rates?
- What is your expected and/or tolerance for variation when utilizing repeater pumps?
- How frequently do you recalibrate your repeater pumps (e.g., daily, after a certain number of pumps, etc.)

Thank you,
T.J.

Non-sterile Compounding

While I am aware the Pharmacy workflow manager systems are controversial, does anyone have experience with using these for non-sterile compounding? We currently use DoseEdge for our sterile compounding across most of our hospital system (not critical access at this time). Have there been other approaches to both increase the safety and completeness of documentation?

Thank you for your response.

Bladder Instillations (outpatient)

Hello!

I am writing today to ask a question in regards to the preparation of bladder instillations (products to be administered intravesically into the bladder) in the outpatient space.

Typically these bladder instillations or bladder “cocktails” involve a combination of injectable heparin, lidocaine+sodium bicarbonate or bupivacaine, steroids and sometimes gentamicin. Typically these are administered in the office setting, however in some instances patients may be taught to administer such therapies at home as well.
