Pump library for NICU IV/UAC Fluids

Our hospital currently implements Epic pump integration with our smart pump, when reviewing NICU CCA, our nurse currently is running any NICU fluids under "IVF plain" or "IVF additive" in the pump, for example, 1/2 sodium acetate with heparin, D5W, D10W...this has caused MAR device not scanned warning on Epic and NICU RN needs to manual entry and set up the pump.

Does your organization have all NICU fluids added to the pump drug library?

Smart pump library for home TPN patients

We recently implemented IV smart pumps with a provincial drug library. We have several patients on home TPN, for whom we've also ordered new pumps. I'm just wondering for any sites who use IV smart pumps with drug libraries, do you also provide a drug library for your home TPN patients, or do you have them continue to manually program their pumps volumetrically (mL/h)? We're thinking of creating a separate smaller library specific to the home TPN patients.

Hi All,

Looking for information specifically to Post-Partum oxytocin infusion.

We have smart pump library for this drug/indication (soft max 333 mL/hr), but are getting push back because the drug needs to be run in as faster than 999 mL/hr therefore they run it by gravity and with a pressure bag. There concerns with using the pump are due to extravasation, infiltration.

At your organization, is entering new medications and updating the smart pump library done by a Clinical Pharmacy Manager/pharmacy manager, medication safety pharmacist or IT pharmacist? i.e. who really "owns" the library or is it shared responsibility?

Thanks!

Ivy
