Barcode scanning when documenting by proxy

For areas that have implemented barcode scanning in ambulatory scanning, are you including/requiring scanning related to procedural medications administered by providers? For example, we are finding that nursing is unable to complete the scanning process when providers administer injections and then the patient leaves. We are tempted to leave out these medications from our compliance monitoring but interested in how other sites have addressed this?
