Benchmark for naloxone use per number of opioid administrations

Dear Medication Safety Officers:

I hope this message finds you well!

Are you aware of a benchmark for naloxone use per number of opioid administrations? If not, do you have an idea of a resource that may offer this sort of benchmark?

Additionally, when you review opioid reversals / naloxone use at your hospitals, are you comparing your percentage of inappropriate or unsafe opioid prescribing or an dosing error etc. (versus patients coming to the ED with a overdose that occurred at home) to some comparator to see how your facility is doing opioid prescribing and need for naloxone use?

Any insights or suggestions you may be willing to share would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Julie
