We allow 4 open patient charts at a time. Our vendor notified us of a glitch in the system where it will switch to another chart without the user initiating this and may not be aware it happened. Recommendation is to limit to 1 chart until fixed. We are revisiting if we should all multiple charts open to users and I'm curious what other places allow. We have data that shows the multiple open charts can lead to wrong patient errors but we also see that happen with just one open chart.
How many charts can a user have open at one time?
Why was that # chosen?
Do you think multiple open charts leads to more errors than 1 chart open?
Thanks,
Connie
