Patient's Own Med that are on Formulary

Does anyone with both Epic and Omnicell have a better way to manage patients who come in with their own medications that may also be stocked in the ADC. Background: ketogenic population that needs specialized (sugar free) formulations that we may not have in stock. If entered/verified incorrectly, the ADC leads the nurse to the formulary, stocked product that is inappropriate for this patient. Their specialized medication is being stored in a patient-specific tower bin. Therefore, the med needs to be verified under a generic "non-formulary" entry that does not guide the nurse to the incorrect product. Though, there is no automatic dosage or drug interaction checking occurring. Please let me know if you need further clarification. Thanks in advance!
