Safeguarding Insulin Pen Use

Hello,

Our institution is exploring the implementation of insulin pens (e.g., insulin glargine pens) within our freestanding emergency departments.

We are seeking insight on best practices to ensure this process is appropriately safeguarded, specifically regarding strategies to prevent use of a single pen for multiple patients (e.g., needle changes between patients).

Any guidance or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
