Hydrocortisone Act-o-vial shortage
Good afternoon,
I was wondering if anyone has run into issues with the hydrocortisone act-o-vial shortage and utilizing the plain hydrocortisone vial with regard to the diluent used. The Pfizer package insert explicitly states to mix the plain vial with bacteriostatic water which has a preservative which then can not be used for neonates or intrathecal injections. I was wondering if anyone can share what they are doing during this shortage in the instance in which the act-o-vial in no longer available? Are you utilizing sterile water to dilute the plain vial? If so do you have any data to support? Thanks!
