Nonspecified PRN dosing frequencies

Hello all,

I wanted to reach out to see if any of you have enacted the recommendation from ISMP to disable your nonspecified prn dosing frequencies (e.g., BID prn or TID prn) in Feb 2022?

1. If so, did you completely delete those and only allow for specified prn frequencies like q6h prn?
2. What did you do about home medication reconciliation? What happens if on patient's pill bottles that way (especially in ambulatory settings)?
3. How did you pursue approval through your respective institutions? Provider feedback?

Thanks
