Pharmacy carousel scanning compliance

Hi,

We recently started tracking our scanning compliance for our pharmacy carousel. This is a metric recommended on the current ASHP Medication Safety Dashboard toolkit and they provide a benchmark of 95%.

We have a Swisslog carousel and have run into the problem of being able to identify true overrides vs workflow related events (i.e. medication was 'deleted from the pick list but also never removed from inventory) and we don't have a true 'override' rate. Currently our scanning rate is 85-88% after implementing a few small action plans and are trying to determine a meaningful benchmark as the 95% mark does not seem attainable given the limitations in our available data to calculate our rate.

Has anyone else tracked this metric within their pharmacy that is willing to share their goal utilization rate and/or how they utilize the carousel scanning data.

Thank you in advance.
