Prefilled Syringe Safety Information Letter to Health Care Proviers

I'm interested to know how your organizations are managing the "Important prefilled syringe safety information"? The information recommends special handling instructions for certain lots of Carpuject(TM) medications. The instructions include recommendations to withdraw medication from the commercially available cartridge-type syringe using a filter needle into another syringe for administration. This recommendation does not follow the published safe practice guidelines for Adult IV Push Medication from ISMP, and in my opinion sends mixed messages for those preparing medications for administration.
So far our organization has decided not to dispense the affected Lot #s.
If you are using affected product, are you instructing to draw up and filter all lot#'s, or just those affected?
appreciate others thoughts or information.

Nick
