Propofol generic and sulfite toxicity or ADEs?

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to see if any of you are currently purchasing propofol containing metabisulfite? As you probably are well aware, nationwide hospitals are struggling with propofol shortages, so we wanted to potentially purchase some generic (currently we use only brand), but were concerned that the sulfites in the product not only could cause issues with patients sensitive to such, but also increase the risk for toxicity at fairly "normal doses" (like 50 mcg/kg/min)?
Do any of you have any experience with generic propofol? Any insight you could share would be much appreciated.

Thank you! Alex
