Ambulatory MAR-dual signoffs

Jennifer Shahan's picture

Forums:

We are rolling out our EPIC Ambulatory MAR and wondering what other institutions have done with nursing dual sign offs?

Our clinic ambulatory MAR (for the most part) currently uses all of the “inpatient” medication configuration settings. Curious to see what other institutions have done with their implementation. Thanks!

Management of Hypertension in Ambulatory Clinics

Forums:

Hello there ~

For those of you with oversight of or visibility to the medication management practices happening in your Ambulatory / Outpatient clinics & office spaces... I was wondering if you would be willing to provide some commentary on the 'in-office' management of hypertension or elevated blood pressure.

ENT Procedural Med Administration Devices

Hello!

Has anyone out there delved into the world of Ambulatory ENT practices yet?? Curious if others have evaluated these spaces from a medication delivery / device perspective for best practice / compounding / infection prevention practices, etc. (for example... powder blowers, multi-use atomizers, http://www.devilbisshealthcare.com/files/LT-577_RevL_FINAL_022715_Web.pdf)

Thanks for any insight or experiences you might be able / willing to share!

Scope of Practice - Rho(D) Immune Globulin administration (LPN / MA)

Emily K D'Anna's picture

Forums:

Hi again!
One more question for the group...

Who is permitted (or restricted) from administering Rho(D) Immune Globulin in the ambulatory / outpatient clinic space?

Do you require RN administration?
Is this within the scope of practice for an LPN?
(...We recognize that this scope of practice for LPNs could differ from state to state, but are still interested)
Are Medical Assistants permitted to administer Rho(D) Immune Globulin?

Thanks so much in advance for your response!

Ambulatory: Epinephrine kits vs. Epinephrine Auto-Injectors

Emily K D'Anna's picture

Forums:

Hello ~
(two questions coming to you today!)

First is this (in light of the epi auto-injector shortage):
In your Ambulatory/Outpatient spaces (if you have oversight) - do you currently stock EpiPens (or the generic auto-injectors) or do you supply epinephrine anaphylaxis kits (with the vial and instructions for dosing)?

Would you be willing to share your kit / label design and any additional safety measures / training that you have in place for staff, if you are currently stocking providing epi kits to the clinics?

Benchmarking / Dashboards / Metrics

Forums:

Hello -

Recognizing that 'medication error rates' captured by voluntary incident reports is the least effective and least reliable determinant of true error rates / benchmarking....

I wondered if other institutions have developed executive-level (or really any level) benchmarks / dashboards / metrics which they follow in their health system to track performance improvement within medication safety and safety realms?

I would be particularly interested if anyone has develop these measures in the outpatient / ambulatory spaces as well.

Clinic Intrathecal Med Administration

Hello All,

We are currently in the process of evaluating intrathecal medication administration in the outpatient setting, with anticipated use of barcode med administration (BCMA) and provider eMAR documentation. We would be interested to know how your institution handles intrathecal medication documentation in the outpatient setting. If there is a different process for inpatient administration, please comment as well.
